Julia Technology
You need not know anything about the underlying technology - but for the curious:
Julia is communicating with Brutus using the standard networking protocol, CORBA. Brutus will in turn use MAPI to talk to Exchange. MAPI is the network communication protocol used by Outlook when talking to Exchange and it is not supported by iCal.
We use our Brutus server to translate between CORBA and MAPI. Lorica, a sub component of both Julia and Brutus, takes care of security and firewall compatibility of all communication.
